In case you missed it, news broke on Friday morning that Chelsea rejected a £50M bid from Barcelona for Willian.

Willian is renown for his inconsistency and inefficiency in front of goal. He has enjoyed spells of great form during his time at Stamford Bridge, but he has struggled to replicate that performance level consistently.

He was voted Chelsea’s players’ player of the year by his teammates for last term. That was largely due to an excellent run of form after the turn of the year, which soon fizzled out and he returned to his usual self.

Willian is thought to be a target for both Barcelona and Manchester United. If the former are coming in with an opening bid of that magnitude, we have a real opportunity to bank some serious cash in exchange for a player who was a substitute for much of the previous two campaigns.

Chelsea fans appear to agree, with many feeling as though the £50M bid should have been rejected. Here’s how twitter reacted to the news breaking.
