Chelsea have just announced the completion of the sale of midfielder Andrey Santos to Manchester United.
This deal has been in the pipeline for a couple of weeks. The former Vasco star had a superb spell on loan at BlueCo club Strasbourg, and then a mixed first season at Stamford Bridge last year, where he showed plenty of promise at times despite the team’s struggles.
The deal that takes him to Old Trafford is valued at £48m plus a further £2m in add-ons, according to Fabrizio Romano. Other sources have reported a 10% sell on fee in the deal too. The Blues paid £10m for him back in January 2023,

We’re really torn over this one. The argument in favour of the move is that there is no European football this season, so we can afford to let one midfielder go, and that we’re making a big profit on Santos.
The argument against is that our other depth options in midfield aren’t reliable, and that we’re once again selling a promising player the moment we can bank a profit on them, rather than keeping them to improve the team.
