Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko is likely to join Chelsea, report L’Equipe via Sport Witness, who say that the midfielder has chosen the Blues over both Manchester clubs.
With talks between Bakayoko’s entourage and Chelsea stalling, the Blues reportedly grew tired of their hard-to-get game and began to move their focus elsewhere. To ensure that they didn’t lose Chelsea, Bakayoko and co. agreed terms, with just the deal with Monaco now the only stumbling block, say L’Equipe.
It is believed, as the report suggests, that Bakayoko chose Chelsea over both Manchester clubs, as he wishes to work with Antonio Conte, a manager he feels that he could work very well with.
Although Chelsea’s €30m offer has been turned down by Monaco, who are hoping for a figure more like €45-50m, L’Equipe believe that the transfer is the “most plausible”.
With rumours of Conte being unsettled at Chelsea emerging in recent hours, it is not yet clear how they could affect the deal. According to Sky Sports, Conte is believed to be happy at Chelsea, but simply anxious to see his transfer targets obtained.
