Chelsea raised £300m in player sales last summer – and the Athletic think the Blues can match that this year.
It’s so far so good on that front – Marc Cucurella has gone to Real Madrid, Tyrique George to Everton, Andrey Santos to Man U and Jimmy-Jay Morgan to West Brom. Simon Johnson estimates that’s brought in £120m already.
So who’s next?
Chelsea on course for huge summer of sales after hot start

Alejandro Garnacho is not in preseason training as he tries to find a move. Chelsea want around £40m, so getting that deal done would take us more than halfway to last summer’s total already. Trevoh Chalobah looks like he’s close to a move to Como for around £30m. Get those done and we’ll be at close to £200m.
The really big one would be Enzo Fernandez – if he goes, it’s going to be for more than £100m. But it’s not looking likely right now. Instead it’s going to be a collection of smaller fees – Filip Jorgensen, Axel Disasi, Liam Delap, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana… the list goes on.
There are more than enough smaller names there to add up to £100m, so if things keep moving in the right direction, last summer’s record is well within reach.
In other news…
Fabrizio Romano has an update on Joao Pedro, who has long been linked with a potential move to Barcelona.
The shocking running stats that were brought up about Chelsea time and again last season are a priority for Xabi Alonso to fix, and it looks like preseason work is already underway on that.
