It looked for a while like Nicolas Jackson was going to be reintegrated back into Chelsea’s first team squad this season after a year on loan with Bayern Munich.
But it’s now clear that Xabi Alonso is keeping three strikers in his squad, and the Senegalese isn’t one of them. Some will say that’s harsh, but it may also be down to a desire to leave on Jackson’s part.
Atletico step up Jackson interest

Now Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail is reporting that Atletico Madrid are one of the teams in the mix. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard them mentioned, but things had gone pretty quiet, and this is a good indication they’re about to heat up again.
Gull says that Atletico would prefer a loan (perhaps with an option to buy), but as ever, Chelsea want a straight sale. It shouldn’t be that hard to come to an arrangement, and we could see Jackson doing really well back in Spain.
There is “no offer yet” but talks are “ongoing.” The whole Jackson deal could be about to get very interesting, with Villa also seemingly gearing up for a bid.
Atletico Madrid are one of several sides chasing Nicolas Jackson. No offer yet from the La Liga club. Chelsea want £65m in a permanent sale for their striker, though understand Atletico prefer an initial loan. Ongoing

Another full back on the agenda was Reece James. Alonso spoke about the full back and how he intended to use him this season.
Alonso also spoke about his team selection for Monday, not giving anyone much confidence that the players who made it deep into the World Cup will get the chance to start.
