Chelsea have done well this summer in getting some key players in and some other important sales done. There’s a long way to go, but there’s a sense that things are on schedule, and new manager Xabi Alonso is being given a platform to succeed.
There is one thing hanging over this summer though which has yet to be resolved, however. The future of Enzo Fernandez. The midfielder made it very clear he wants to leave the club, but because he’s been on a post-World Cup holiday isn’t not been something everyone has had to confront directly yet.
Enzo looks stranded as interest dries up
This week the squad return to Cobham however, and Enzo is back in training. As it stands, it looks like he’s just going to have to suck it up and stick around.
Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail points out that Chelsea’s £120m asking price remains the same, and that they’ve not had a single bid in the last two months. Real Madrid have ruled themselves out of the bidding, and it’s hard to know now where Enzo goes.
There’s been no indication that he will make a fuss about that – Chelsea are asking for only slightly more than what they paid, and nobody wants to pay it. If things go well with Alonso, would anyone be really surprised if Enzo ends up signing a new contract mid-season?

Benoit Badiashile is another item on Chelsea’s agenda they’d love to tick off, and it sounds like progress is finally being made on moving him on.
