Chelsea are still being linked with a move for AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain, bizarrely.

Higuain was mentioned as a potential target for Chelsea in the summer. Considering he had the best season of his career under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli, it’s no surprise that the media thought it likely the pair could reunite.

Yet, Higuain didn’t sign for Chelsea, he joined AC Milan as part of a deal which took Leonardo Bonucci back to Juventus. We were left with Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud to lead our line.

Corriere dello Sport believe that this deal is not dead. Higuain is thought to be hoping that Chelsea make a move to sign him, with the Blues very much interested in (finally) getting him to sign along the dotted line.

The issues still remain. Higuain is over 30 and would only be offered a one-year contract due to club policy. Considering the fee that it would likely take to convince Milan to sell, it just wouldn’t make financial sense.
