Chelsea are reportedly considering making a offer for Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan, according to LeSport10.

With the winter transfer window now open for business, the report claims that the Stamford Bridge outfit could look to bring the player who has featured in every Ligue 1 match for Strasbourg this season (transfermarkt) to the Premier League.

The report claims that the French side would need to receive an offer in the region of €15million (£13.3 million) if they are to consider parting company with Simakan.

AC Milan are also said to hold an interest in the 20-year-old, after they failed to land him in the summer for £12.5million.

Strasbourg are currently hovering two points above the relegation zone in the French top flight and remains to be seen whether they would be prepared to weaken their defence at such a crucial time in the season.

Chelsea bolstered their defence with the arrival of Thiago Silva in the summer and while the Brazilian is in the twilight of his career, the Blues certainly need some long-term replacements.
