There is no doubting that Chelsea seriously bungled the handling of Mamadou Sarr last season.

Having agreed a deal to buy the defender from their sister club Strasbourg last summer, the Blues left him on loan at the French side, where he was a key player and playing regular minutes, despite his young age.

In January, a panic at Stamford Bridge led to the rash decision to bring Sarr back to the mothership. He ended up barely featuring in the second half of the season, damaging his development, while Strasbourg suffered in terms of results as they tried to cope without a starting central defender.

It’s clear now that he’s not ready for regular minutes at Chelsea, and the club are focused on finding the youngster a really solid loan for this season, to try and make up for his wasted 6 months.

The Evening Standard claim that Chelsea are “keen” for the 20 year old to move to a Premier League club, but would also consider offers from elsewhere. The priority is to get the youngster playing every week again, no matter what country or what

In other news…

The chatter about Trevoh Chalobah is that he’s close to a move to Como, after the Blues finally agreed a transfer price with the Italian side.

There are a few different options for Chelsea up front this season – and it’s pretty clear who the best option to back up Joao Pedro is.
