Chelsea make ‘first contact’ to sign top striker – but two players could leave

Chelsea have made contact with Juventus over the possibility of signing Gonzalo Higuain, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Step aside, Alfredo Pedulla. The OG is back.

Higuain has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge ever since it became clear that Maurizio Sarri would be taking charge at the club.

The Argentine enjoyed the most prolific period of his career at the Stadio San Paolo with Sarri at the helm. A reunion could be what he needs to kick-start his career.

Di Marzio has claimed that Chelsea are willing to make it happen, and have made contact with Juventus for Higuain.

His report claims that Higuain’s arrival at Stamford Bridge will depend on whether Chelsea can shift either of Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi.

Parting with either of them and replacing them with Higuain would only be a short-term fix, but we’d have a striker capable of hitting 20-a-season in the league.

That’s what we lacked last time around.
