Chelsea, Dele Alli, it couldn’t happen – could it?
The answer is probably no, but Spanish outlet Don Balon believe that Antonio Conte is keen to draft in the Tottenham man this summer.
Conte’s ambition is completely justified, he is the manager of the Premier League champions, who recently received the biggest pay-out in the competition’s history, as well as sealing a bumper kit deal with Nike.
Alli, though, may well be a bridge too far. Don Balon note it would take a fee in the region of £89M to convince Tottenham to sell, and even that seems cheap for a player who is arguably the most talented youngster England have produced since Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney.
There can be no doubting that he would be an extraordinary addition to our side, and it would be a major coup, but we’d be better off pursuing more realistically obtainable players instead of wasting our time running down cul-de-sacs.
