Antonio Conte is willing to splash out £60 million on Sergio Aguero this summer in order to secure the services of Manchester City striker, reports the Mirror.
As per the Mirror, Diego Costa’s departure to Atlético Madrid is imminent, and Conte is thought to be desperate to bring in a top-quality centre forward to replace the Spanish international and, according to the Mirror, Aguero is a serious target.
The Mirror report that during an interview last season, City boss Pep Guardiola identified Gabriel Jesus as “the future of Manchester City”, hinting that the Brazilian forward would be his first-choice striker for the coming season.
In light of these comments, the Mirror reports that the Blues are looking to poach the Argentine striker from one of their biggest Premier League rivals as they understand the goal machine will not want to sit on the bench, especially in a World Cup year.
Although the Mirror understands that the City hierarchy remain adamant that Aguero will remain at the club, Chelsea are thought to have been encouraged by the Manchester club’s pursuit of Alexis Sánchez who would offer yet more competition up front for the 29-year-old.
