Chelsea are stepping up their attempts to recruit a new pair of full-backs, according to the Telegraph.
Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso remain our only natural options at left and right-wing-back. Cesar Azpilicueta proved during the Burnley defeat that he does not offer enough going forward to play that role.
To build on our options on the right-hand-side, the Telegraph claim that moves for Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier and Valencia’s Joao Cancelo are both being considered.
To provide competition for Alonso, it is reported by the Telegraph that Alex Sandro and Danny Rose are on Antonio Conte’s shortlist. However, it is believed that Juventus are standing their ground and preventing Sandro moving to Stamford Bridge, whereas Rose is unlikely to leave Tottenham this month.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also a target. He has played at left-wing-back, right-wing-back, central-midfield, right-wing and left-wing during his time with the Gunners. That sort of versatility could be invaluable.
