Transfers: Chelsea target issues come and get me plea – and we ought to answer

Genoa striking sensation Krzysztof Piatek has admitted his desire to play for a ‘big club’ at some point in the future.

There has been rumours from many websites and some people actually bet money on how long he will stay at his current club.

Piatek has been a revelation for Genoa this season. The now Poland international has scored nine goals in 12 appearances in Serie A so far this term. Considering he’s a 23-year-old featuring in his first ever year in Europe’s top five leagues, it’s rather impressive.

The Guardian reported last month that Piatek’s performances had landed him on Chelsea’s transfer radar. Even with the recent flurry of goals from Alvaro Morata, there can be no denying that we are in need of a new centre-forward.

Whether we will take steps to sign Piatek to plug that hole is unclear at this stage, but by the sound of his recent comments, he would be rather keen on making the switch to Stamford Bridge.

Piatek is quoted by the Metro saying:

“The dream of those who come to Genoa is that they use it as a stepping stone towards a big club,’ Piatek told Corriere della Sera.”

“If I continue this way, I could sign for a big club. My objective is to play in the Champions League.”

Would Piatek be a good signing, Blues? He’d be a risk, no doubt, but Piatek is one of the rising stars of the football world. This is a come and get me plea that we ought to answer. Let us know what you think on Twitter @TalkChelsea.
