A rumour that was very vague just a week ago is growing more concrete, and it’s looking more and more likely that Chelsea are going to sell Andrey Santos to Manchester United.
The Daily Mail are today reporting that the Red Devils are “edging closer” to secured a move for the 22 year old, with club to club talks now underway for a £5om deal.
Santos will get chance to build on promise at Old Trafford

Like most Chelsea fans, we’re very unsure about this move. Santos did not have a great season – but it was his first in the Premier League. He played 27 times and showed plenty of promise, despite never really making himself an undisputed starter. We were excited to see what he could do in a second season, especially with Xabi Alonso in charge. He’s physical, has an eye for goal, and is solid in possession.
Overall he’s shown far more promise (let alone reliability) than the likes of Romeo Lavia or Dario Essugo. The only reason he’s the one set to leave is because he’s the one getting offers. That’s not how you build a winning team.
In other news…
Rafa Benitez has been talking about Xabi Alonso, a player he knows well, and how he thinks the young coach will get on at Chelsae after taking over this week.
A loan move has been agreed for one of Chelsea’s young starlets this summer – it’s not a club you might have predicted, however.
