Desperate Chelsea could make damaging move with £17m Brazilian striker

Chelsea are considering loaning striker Deivid Washington to Strasbourg as they struggle to find a move for him.

When talking about Chelsea’s striker situation, the main concerns are what to do with Liam Delap and Marc Guiu, now it’s been established that Emmanuel Emegha is the chosen man to back up Joao Pedro in the first team squad.

But those aren’t the only two who need something – don’t forget Deivid Washington, the young Brazilian signed for £17m in 2023 in one of the most disastrous moves made by this current ownership thus far.

He’s been back in Brazil on loan at Santos, but that move didn’t work out well either. So far, apart from three appearances under Mauricio Pochettino, Washington has featured mainly for our academy – but even there he is taking minutes away from more deserving players.

Strasbourg loan must be last resort for Washington

Nizaar Kinsella’s piece for the BBC today claims that Washington could be on his way to Strasbourg on loan.

That is surely a last resort – our French sister club need serious strengthening, and from what we’ve seen Washington wouldn’t get a game for them.

The report says Portuguese clubs are interested too – that surely is the better option.

In other news…

It’s been a punishing slog for Chelsea agreeing a deal to loan out Benoit Badiashile, but it appears they’ve finally done it, and a medical for the defender at Napoli is expected this week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

A player the Blues are less inclined to sell is Pedro Neto – they’ve put a huge price tag on him just to scare away the teams who are trying to land him.
