Atletico Madrid are confident of luring Diego Costa away from Chelsea in the January transfer window, but have urged the Spaniard to smooth over things with the Blues in order to help the deal materialise, according to the Daily Mail.
The Daily Mail claim that Costa’s former employers Atletico were in negotiations with Chelsea over the possibility of re-signing the Spain international, but were unable to find an agreement with the Premier League champions over a transfer.
The tabloid believe that Atletico will return for Costa in January, but they want him to be match-fit by the time he, potentially, arrives. The Daily Mail report that Atletico will, for that reason, urge Costa to return to Chelsea training at the Cobham training ground and get up to speed.
The Daily Mail not that Chelsea are demanding a fee in the region of £50M for Costa, whereas Atletico are only prepared to pay £40M. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in January.
