Chelsea could be stuck with Diego Costa, as Atletico Madrid turn their attentions elsewhere, report the Daily Star.
As per the Daily Star, Costa, who was influential in Chelsea’s title successes both in 2014/15 and 2016/17, is desperate to return to former employers Atletico.
The Spaniard was left behind as Chelsea jetted off for their pre-season tour in the far east, and it looked as though his time at Stamford Bridge was about to come to a bitter end.
However, the Daily Star report that he could in fact be stuck at Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window.
The tabloid cite Spanish outlet Don Balon, who claim that Atletico will look to sign Borussia Dortmund hitman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang instead of Costa.
It is reported that AC Milan have also shown an interest in acquiring Costa this summer, but if no offer is forthcoming, and Atletico do pursue Aubameyang – Costa may well be left to rot at Chelsea.
