Exciled Chelsea striker Diego Costa will head to Spain in order to force through a move to Atletico Madrid, according reports in the Express.

The wantaway striker has today released a statement confirming his intentions to rejoin his former club Atletico Madrid in a message released from his home in Brazil, as the Express report:

My destination is already made,” Costa said, via his hometown club Sportivo Sergipe.

I must return to Atletico Madrid. It turns out that there is the impasse that Chelsea does not want to release me.

But I believe that this situation will be resolved now on my return to Spain.

The latest news about Costa’s desire to rejoin Atletico Madrid will come as no surprise to Chelsea fans after the Spain striker missed the entirety of Chelsea’s pre-season this summer.

In June, the Guardian reported that the volatile forward had been told by Antonio Conte that he would play no part in the 2017-18 campaign and should find a new club.

The Express report that Chelsea are keen to agree a deal for Diego Costa this summer, however, as of yet, the Spanish club have refused to meet Chelsea’s valuation of the forward.

However, with Costa now travelling to Spain, it would appear that the striker is trying to force through a move back to the Spanish capital.
