Our writer Simon Phillips is here today with an exclusive update on the controversial future of midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
He claims that Atletico Madrid are “weighing up making an approach” for the Argentina star, who has been pushing to leave Chelsea since the spring. While Real Madrid is the former Benfica man’s dream, his desperation to leave Chelsea will mean he’s willing to consider Atletico too.
Atletico a perfect match for Enzo – but will struggle for massive fee

We said right from the start that Atletico Madrid made massive sense for Enzo, given the deep Argentina connections at the club. We even speculated that this was why Enzo’s controversial comments back in March were focused on “living in Madrid” rather than a dream of playing for Real Madrid.
If Atletico made Enzo a strong offer we’re sure he would take it. But the problem is that they are even less likely than their city rivals to be ready to pay Chelsea the £120m or so that the Blues will want to sell Enzo.
Whatever happens this summer, keep an eye on Atletico as a potential destination for the future for the Argentine.
