With Andrey Santos on his way out at Chelsea, there are big questions about what the Blues might do in midfield.
The obvious thing is simply to not sell Enzo Fernandez. With no European football next season, a selection of Enzo, Moises Caicedo, Dario Essugo and Romeo Lavia; plus a host of talented academy starlets, might be considered enough.
The other alternative is to sign another player, and yesterday our writer Simon Phillips gave an update on a target wanted by a swathe of the Premier League.
Adam Wharton too expensive – but Alex Scott could be more affordable

“Chelsea are thinking that Alex Scott can come in from Bournemouth and do a job,” Phillips said.
“I was told this morning that Chelsea feel they will be priced out of a move for Adam Wharton… Chelsea have been speaking to Bournemouth since February, they will try for Scott – and will be if Enzo Fernandez goes or not.”
Scott has a contract which with just two years left to run, meaning Bournemouth can’t demand the same sort of fees that Crystal Palace can for Wharton.
