Odds have been slashed on Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain becoming a Chelsea player this summer.
On paper, this move would made sense. The best goal-scoring season of Higuain’s career came while working under Sarri at the Stadio Olimpico.
It’s also unclear whether Juventus have room for Higuain both in the squad and on the wage bill following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.
Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed on Wednesday that Sarri is close to taking over from Antonio Conte as Chelsea manager. There is little doubt he’d love to have Higuain at his disposal once again.
As the Express report, odds have been slashed on Higuain joining Chelsea following the news about Sarri. Though, major question marks still remain.
Chelsea’s recent policy is only to offer players over 30 a rolling one-year contract. It’d likely take a hefty fee to prise Higuain away from Juventus – would we risk losing him for nothing in 12-months?
We can’t see it happening.
