Ww wrote earlier today that we expected more bids from Chelsea for Rayo Vallecano left back Pep Chavarria, and just a few hours later we’ve got an update that confirms that.
Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC has just put out a story which claims that Chavarria wants the Chelsea move (no surprises there), but his club are holding out for his £21.5m release clause in full.
Chelsea have made an offer, although by the sounds of things it was closer to £10m than £21.5m. It’s just a matter of time before they follow up with another attempt.
Chelsea signing will prompt full back reshuffle

Kinsella’s post has some interesting added details about how the reshuffle at Chelsea will work. Marc Cucurella has been sold to Real Madrid, but Chavarria isn’t coming in to replace him. Instead, backup left back Jorrel Hato is going to be take over from Cucurella as first choice, and Chavarria will slot in as backup.
We have our doubts whether that’s an improvement on last year’s situation – but let’s wait and see.
In other news…
We’ve been told for months that Chelsea are planning to focus on more experienced players in the transfer market this summer – that’s not stopping the links to talented teenagers, however.
Alejandro Garnacho is a player most Chelsea fans would be pretty happy to see moved on, even after one season. That doesn’t seem likely right now, as we explain here.
