Maurizio Sarri reportedly wants to bring several of his Napoli stars with him, should he agree a deal to replace Antonio Conte as Chelsea manager.
Sarri is the leading candidate to replace Conte this summer. The former is a proven winner, but Sarri would arrive with a little more mystery, a little more flair. His Napoli side played champagne football last term, it was as close to total-football as you could get outside of Barcelona or Manchester. If he was able to replicate that at Chelsea, we’d be laughing.
A pretty simple way of getting Chelsea playing in a similar manner to his Napoli side last season is to sign half the squad. That appears to be Sarri’s plan.
According to the London Evening Standard, Sarri would like Elseid Hysaj, Zielinski and Raul Albiol to follow him to Stamford Bridge, but he’s not done there. It’s claimed that he would also try to convince the club to move for Kalidou Koulibaly and Jorginho.
This has the potential to get very silly. Let’s wait and see.
