Now they’re a player trading entity as much as a football club, Chelsea’s summers follow a similar pattern. After signing players early on, the last few weeks are a desperate rush to offload as many of previous windows’ failed gambles as possible.
That’s the case now – there has been a steady stream of completed deals, and there are a lot more to come. One that the Blues would love to do is a deal to move on Liam Delap. The striker signed for £30m a year ago, but struggled when given a chance.

The reports are that we’ve slapped a very ambitious £50m price tag on him, and we very much doubt we would get that. However there is some more promising news in that Miguel Delaney of the Independent is today reporting that both Ipswich and Nottingham Forest are “considering a move” for Delap.
Ipswich was where Delap made his name and earned his Chelsea move in the first place. It seems a comfortable, easy option. Forest are a more ambitious team who seem to be aiming higher.
