Soures in Portugal are connecting Chelsea with a serious bid for Porto and Portugal keeper Diogo Costa.
The claims are that the Blues have offered €40m, while Porto are refusing to accept anything less than the stopper’s €60m release clause. Straight away, that’s a sticking point for both sides.

We’ve not at all convinced by this. Chelsea looked to have made up their mind that they’re going to back Robert Sanchez until Mike Penders is ready to take over from him, and these vague whispers will have to get a lot more serious before we believe our plans have changed.
The only reason we can think of for a dramatic u-turn would be if Xabi Alonso himself had told the sporting directors he wants an elite goalkeeper. But there has yet to be a convincing suggestion that has happened. Until we see it, we’re not taking this chatter too seriously.
