Chelsea aren’t slowing down in the transfer market, even with their key attacking and defensive targets seemingly secured.
David Ornstein has just dropped a report that the Blues are exploring a move for 35 year old Danny Welbeck, who has one year left on his contract at Brighton.
“After recruiting mainly players under the age of 25 in the last few seasons, Chelsea have been seeking players they deem to be more Premier League ready,” the transfer guru said.
Welbeck’s experience and personality have been key to Brighton’s recent success in integrating young players, and the Blues now want a piece of that.

We’re delighted that the club have changed their policy – it’s a shame they wasted 4 years before waking up to the obvious realities of football that everyone else could see from the moment they began a youth only policy – but better late than never, eh?
As for the other strikers on the books – we know Joao Pedro will be first choice. With no European games to play, what do we expect the future holds for Marc Guiu, Emmanuel Emegha and Nicolas Jackson, should Welbeck come in?
