Yesterday was a very busy evening on the transfer front for Chelsea. A number of deals took big steps forward, both in terms of outgoing and incoming moves.
One that was resurrected pretty much from nowhere was interest in Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez. There were links to the Argentine stopper a year ago, but this summer it had become pretty clear that Robert Sanchez was keeping the seat warm for another year while Mike Penders prepared to step up.
But a sudden change in tack – perhaps precipitated by Sanchez’s mistakes in our opening game on Monday night, has seen a sudden return to the idea of signing Martinez, who has already been replaced by Zion Suzuki at Villa.
Martinez wants Chelsea; Blues now decide if they want Martinez

Fabrizio Romano’s Tweet last night claims that Martinez has “already said yes” to a Chelsea move, and wants the switch ahead of the deadline.
He adds that “internal talks are ongoing” at Stamford Bridge as they weigh up whether to sign the big personality. This one could go to the wire.
🚨🔵 Emiliano Martínez already said yes to Chelsea project. He wants the move and hopes for #CFC switch ahead of the deadline.
Tottenham are currently not involved as they are happy (so far) with Kinsky and Dubravka.

In other news…
Meanwhile in outgoing deals, Nicolas Jackson is on his way to Aston Villa, where he will take a medical ahead of a £65m deal.
Chelsea somehow got an incredible potential £50m for Liam Delap, helping further to clear the squad out.
