Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano is in the middle of the busiest period of the year for him. The summer is in full swing, the World Cup is over for 99% of players, and the market is getting really hot.
Chelsea are not making a major splash just yet, but today on his Youtube channel the insider updated Blues fans on one “ongoing” situation – the pursuit of Crystal Palace central defender Maxence Lacroix.

“I want to return to a name and that is Maxence Lacroix,” Romano said today.
“Just because I’m not saying his name every day, you should know that the conversations are absolutely, absolutely ongoing. Could be two centre backs depending on outgoings. [Pep] Chavarria is not centre back, he’s left wing back or left back.”
At the moment, signing two central defenders seems fantastical because we’re struggling to get any of our current options sold. However Trevoh Chalobah looks like he’s finally close to joining Como, which will open our options up a little bit. The Chavarria deal dragging on so long isn’t ideal either.
