Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the future of Joao Pedro at Chelsea.
The Italian transfer insider reports that the striker is “not a realistic alternative” for Barcelona should they fail to sign Julian Alvarez.
That’s because Chelsea consider JP “untouchable” and “not for sale this summer.” After a really good season after signing from Brighton, the Blues want to continue building their team around the Brazilian.

As has become clear, the problem is not to do with Joao Pedro. Chelsea won’t sell him, and he won’t push to go. It doesn’t seem like Barcelona are even going to put the pressure on by making a serious offer.
The problem is with his backups. Nicolas Jackson is the obvious candidate, but it’s not clear if he wants to stay at Chelsea. Liam Delap isn’t good enough, and Marc Guiu hasn’t shown anything that’s Premier League level, let alone Chelsea level.
No wonder we don’t want to let Joao Pedro go under any circumstances…
