Given Chelsea want to sell multiple central defenders this summer and buy at least one, there has been disappointingly little action on that front so far this summer.
That could change soon. Gianluca Di Marzio has just jumped on Twitter to claim that, at last, Como are ready to “close the deal for Trevoh Chalobah.”
He claims that “a meeting between the parties is expected to finalise the last agreements.” Presumably England’s elimination from the World Cup will help speed things along too.
Chelsea close to finally concluding defender sale

All summer we’ve heard that Inter Milan and Como were the teams who wanted Chalobah, and for a while it looked like Inter were going to get the job done. But in the last week they seemed to pull back, and Serie A rivals Como have been the ones to get the ball over the line.
The fee isn’t yet clear – but most people expect it to be around £35m, with a portion of that in add-ons. Chelsea will want to reinvest that – but there are still several other defenders they would like to move on first.
In other news…
Josh Acheampong has been linked with an exit from Chelsea, and our exclusive reports from inside his camp come back with some pretty worrying info on his situation right now.
We’re now a week into Chelsea’s preseason, and the first reports about how the players are responding to it are coming out. It all sounds very positive, which isn’t surprising at all.
