Jesse Derry is set to join Sporting CP on loan in the the next few days.
The Chelsea academy winger got his first team debut last season, and now hopes to build on that with a good spell in Portugal. His ridiculous 18 goals in 23 matches in the Under-18 Premier League show he’s ready for senior football already.
He joins a Sporting squad who have just lost one of their wingers in the form of Geovany Quenda, who is completing a move to Chelsea a year after it was agreed.
Chelsea and Sporting continue to develop club to club relationship

This is a really interesting move, with a few hints at bigger picture changes. For one, the fact that Chelsea have no European football at all makes loan moves for young players all the more important – there simply won’t be enough league minutes to go around this season.
It also reinforces the growing relationship between Chelsea and Sporting – as well as Quenda, Chelsea also bought Dario Essugo a year ago. The Portuguese club can give loanees high quality minutes in both domestic and European competition.
