(Video) Eric Dier should have seen red at Wembley, Chelsea fans appeal for consistency

Eric Dier

Chelsea fans have asked for more consistency from the FA following Eric Dier’s dangerous tackle on Blues defender David Luiz during the club’s 2-1 victory over Spurs on Sunday.

Having lost the ball to N’Golo Kante, the England international made a desperate lunge to try and win back possession, but appeared to catch David Luiz with his studs on the follow through. The midfielder’s challenge prompted an animated reaction from Antonio Conte who was stood on the touchline and had many fans in the stadium wincing in sympathy for the Brazilian.

Following the clash, many eagle-eyed Chelsea fans drew parallels between Dier’s challenge and a similar tackle made by Blues captain Gary Cahill just a week before.

Unlike Dier, Cahill was sent off at Stamford Bridge for his challenge on Steven Defour, leaving many Blues fans to asking the question why Dier wasn’t send for an early bath like his England colleague.

Take a look at the challenge posted by @chelskigifs below and decide for yourself as to whether the Spurs midfielder should have seen red.
