Olivier Giroud scored the winning goal for France against the Netherlands on Sunday night, and what a finish it was.
Giroud came under criticism after failing to score throughout France’s World Cup campaign, but his lack of goals was not a fair reflection of the influence he had at the spearhead of Les Blues’ attack.
There was no better way to send a message to his critics than to score the winner at the Stade de France against the Netherlands in front of more than 80,000 football fans.
What a finish it was, too. Giroud cut across Liverpool centre-back Virgil Van Dijk before firing into the back of the net. We’d like to see Alvaro Morata try doing this…
⚽️ GIROUD! ⚽️
