Despite talks of a potential return to his native Italy, Antonio Conte will persist on staying as Chelsea’s head coach for the rest of his contract, The Standard reports.
Two men that could have a big factor in luring Conte back to managing his national team are Roberto Fabbricini and Alessandro Costacurta.
As per The Standard, Italy Football Federation (FIGC) president Fabbricini believes Conte is ‘eager’ to become manager of the Azzurri once again.
Conte managed Italy for two years, most notably during the 2016 European Championships. Chelsea had by that time had appointed Conte as the club’s first team head coach as his country reached the quarter-finals of the competition.
FIGC vice-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta indicated that he will fly to England to begin negotiations of Conte for the role.
However, when speaking in a press conference on Friday, Conte won’t be drawn on speculation surrounding himself with the Italian National Team, as he is quoted by The Standard.
“I still have 18 months left on my contract at Chelsea. My desire is to respect this contract. My will is to stay here and continue my work. I don’t see problems about this.”
