- Sky Italy predict how Chelsea could shape-up under Maurizio Sarri.
- We get the feeling they didn’t watch many of our games last season.
- OPINION: Chelsea could lineup like this after Sarri & Jorginho arrivals
Sky Italy have taken a punt at predicting what our starting eleven could look like next term – and we’re not sure we agree.
The media in Italy will be far more accustomed to Sarri’s thought process than ourselves, but we’re also more familiar with the squad that he’ll have at his disposal.
It’s highly unlikely that Sarri will stick with a back-three. He will revert to a four at the back, potentially attempting to recreate the 4-3-3 system he used at Napoli.
Here’s Sky Italy’s idea of what we could expect to see next season.
There’s more than a few problems with this.
Let’s start at the back. Can Marcos Alonso actually operate as an archetypal left-back? He has developed such a reputation due to his good work going forward. He can’t defend.
Not to mention – Gary Cahill? Seriously? Andreas Christensen or Antonio Rudiger have to be given game-time ahead of our skipper.
We’re also not convinced that Pedro could get his engines firing once again to the level that it’d take to nail down a starting role.
Even if Willian leaves, it’s likely that he’d be replaced, with Pedro left out in the cold for the remaining season of his Chelsea contract.
A very strange selection. What do you think, Blues?
