Chelsea are reportedly considering alternatives to Maurizio Sarri, with the Italian proving difficult to prise away from Napoli, despite no longer being the club’s manager.
Carlo Ancelotti will be leading the Serie A runners-up into the new season, but Sarri is still on their books. Chelsea need to pay his release clause if we want to have any chance of appointing him as manager, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis playing hardball.
Additionally, Antonio Conte is still our manager. He appears to be unwilling to quit, and understandably so. Chelsea need to sack Conte and agree a deal for the payment for the remainder of his contract before we can even think about securing a new manager.
The potential financial issues we face appointing Sarri appear to have turned our stomachs. According to France Football, former Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc is being sounded out as an alternative.
He’s been out of work for two-years, with no other top club on the planet having any intention of appointing him. This is Chelsea, though, in recent years we have offered refuge to the mediocre. We may be set to do so once again.
