Napoli are ready to see the back of Maurizio Sarri with a move for the manager to Stamford Bridge on the horizon this summer.
As per The Standard, the Serie A club have created a managerial shortlist that includes the likes of Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery and Paulo Fonseca of Shakhtar Donetsk.
This has seen Sarri’s move away from the Italian club become even more inevitable as he’s one of the favourites to replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea at the end of the season.
The prime reason for the 59-year-old leaving Napoli is down to his relationship with the club’s chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis.
The Standard reports that De Laurentiis is fearful that Sarri could persuade some of his players to join him at SW6 as the former-Empoli coach was disappointed demands of £3.5m weren’t met which in the process would have removed the £7.1m release clause in his contract.
Kalidou Koulibaly, who made the headlines scoring a last minute winner for Napoli away to Juventus in the race for the league title, has been a name thrown around in the Blues rumour mill.
The prospect of a highly-rated manager who likes to play exciting football taking charge of Chelsea’s first team is exciting to say the least.
