Antonio Rudiger has spoken out on his situation after he was dropped by manager Antonio Conte for Chelsea’s 3-2 victory over Southampton at the weekend.
Following the Blues’ 1-1 draw with West Ham United, Rudiger questioned why his side took their foot off the gas after going a goal ahead.
Conte appears to have taken the German’s criticism personally, as Rudiger was not even included among the substitutes on Saturday afternoon.
Rudiger is bemused. The 25-year-old is quoted by the Daily Mail revealing that he has no idea why Conte decided to axe him from the squad:
“I have no idea. I am fully fit.”
Rudiger has been one of our most improved players this season. Conte insists that the decision to drop him was a tactical one, but we’re not buying it.
We need him in the side for the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton on Sunday. Conte cannot allow this to become another David Luiz saga. His job may well depend on it.
