Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho insists he won’t make a rash decision over assessing Romelu Lukaku’s fitness ahead of the FA Cup final clash with Chelsea on Saturday.
Lukaku suffered an ankle injury in United’s 2-1 league win over Arsenal in April, but may return to action against the Blues at Wembley.
Whilst it’s unknown as to whether Lukaku will start or come off the bench against Chelsea, Mourinho is quoted by Sky Sports, providing an update on the Belgian striker’s situation as well as Chelsea transfer target Anthony Martial’s availability for the upcoming encounter.
“Martial is fit, but Lukaku, we have to wait until the last moment.
“I don’t want to lie to you and say he doesn’t play and then he plays, or vice versa – so we have to wait.”
Whether or not Mourinho is playing his typical mind games remains to be seen, but Antonio Conte’s side need to be wary of the attack United possess with the likes of Alexis Sanchez set to start.
Hopefully, Chelsea can muster everything the Red Devils will throw at us, unlike the embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.
