Maurizio Sarri has reportedly shown the ‘first signs of nervousness’ that he proposed move to Chelsea won’t materialise this summer.
Imagine if it didn’t after all of this…
The Sarri saga has been a lengthy one. The situation has been inexplicably dragged out of a month, meaning that there is just six-weeks left of the transfer window for us conduct our business – and the managerial mess has still not been resolved.
It looked as though we were approaching the climax, with Sarri set to be appointed and Antonio Conte to be sent packing. This latest report from Italian newspaper Il Mattino suggests that we might have something to worry about.
Sarri is thought to be concerned that Chelsea will not find an agreement with Conte for the termination of his contract, meaning that he’ll serve the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
It’s hard to believe that Conte staying on is even the remotest of possibilities at this point. Let’s not panic until we’re given a genuine reason to do so.
