Twitter went crazy for Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu after his superb performance for Wales on Thursday evening.
Ampadu has already demonstrated both his quality and maturity beyond his years during he opportunities he has been provided with as a Chelsea player thus far. We have a gem on our hands, there’s no doubt about it.
Maurizio Sarri’s decision to keep Ampadu as part of his first-team squad, rather than loaning him out, when he has a wealth of talent at his disposal at centre-back, speaks volumes out his faith in the Welshman.
Ampadu reaffirmed why he is rated so highly during Wales’ demolition of Republic of Ireland on Thursday.
Now, Chelsea fans oftentimes like to get excited over our younger players, who are oftentimes unable to build a career at Stamford Bridge.
Ampadu is not going to be another false dawn, and Twitter knows it. Have a look at this…

Ethan Ampadu looked mature in midfield producing interceptions and cross-fields balls in his first competitive international game for Wales. An incredible prospect. #CFC

Gareth Bale has been outstanding, but not far behind is Ethan Ampadu. Hard to believe he’s 17. Bossing the game from midfield.

Caught the first-half highlights of Wales vs Ireland. You don’t see many 17-year-olds as first-team ready as Ampadu – not to mention in several positions #cfc

Ethan Ampadu is the first 2000-born player to register an assist for the men’s Welsh national team.

Senior players in the Wales camp have been raving about Ampadu for more than a year. I think a few more people realise why after this performance
