Real recognise real, in every industry on the planet. In football, though, admiring and respecting the best is more straightforward after locking-horns with them yourself.
Pep Guardiola found that out for himself when his Manchester City side faced a Maurizio Sarri led Napoli in the Champions League.
Though we don’t often like to admit it, with Pep being the manager of City, he is one of the best of his kind the football world has ever seen.
Guardiola has come up against some of the best teams we’ve been in recent times. From Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United, to Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan, to Roberto Di Matteo’s Chelsea side in 2012.
However, he believes that Sarri’s Napoli are one of, if not the, best teams he has faced in his managerial career. He revealed this following City’s 2-1 win over the Serie A side in the Champions League. Let’s hope he can get us playing like Napoli!
