Chelsea and Arsenal are set for a transfer tug-of-war over Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, according to the Express.
Both of the aforementioned teams could soon find themselves in need of a new goalkeeper. Petr Cech has been sub-par this season, with many suggesting that the Czech’s time at the top level is coming to an end.
Thibaut Courtois, on the other hand, is yet to commit his future with a new contract amid reported interest from Real Madrid.
If Courtois does depart, you have to assume that we’d bank a hefty fee. He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world. We also have no dire need of a major cash influx, despite Atletico’s eye-watering asking price for Oblak.
As per Spanish publication AS, Atleti will demand the Slovenian’s release clause is paid in full. They report that it stands at €100M (£87M). Time for Roman to open his chequebook!
If Courtois does depart, would you be happy with the signing of Oblak, Blues? If not, who would you target? Let us know in the comments.
