Transfer insider Matteo Moretto was on Spanish radio last night, where he covered a number of different stories, some of them involving Chelsea.
The big Blues transfer saga this summer is Enzo Fernandez, who is wanted by Real Madrid (amongst others). But Marc Cucurella’s potential departure could also be a major headline maker.
Chelsea and Atletico need to find common ground on Cucurella
Moretto reported on this radio show that Atletico Madrid are “going hard” for Cucurella and Chelsea are asking for €50m or more to sell.
It’s a very steep price, and we don’t think Atletico would pay that. However, it feels like a starting point to us. Chelsea will probably end up accepting €40m and some bonuses for the left back. He’s already 28 and has just two years of contract left – there’s only so hard a bargain they can drive.
It’s a deal that potentially suits all parties, so we’re sure a compromise can be found. It may have to wait until after the World Cup, but we’re confident Cucurella is back in Spain by August.
