Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo‘s piece about Marc Cucurella’s future claims that Atletico Madrid want him, and also that Chelsea are lining up a replacement for the left back should he go.
There is still clearly some hope that Xabi Alonso would persuade a top player like Cucurella to stay, but contingency plans are being formulated in case he leaves.
Chelsea chase Juventus talent as Cucurella successor

“In England they are signalling that they have Andrea Cambiaso on their shortlist. The Juventus player would fit with what they want, positionally and in terms of age and ability,” they write.
Things haven’t got too far on the Cambiaso front, but we’re starting to see the name more and more. If Cucurella does go, expect things to get serious.
The 26 year old has been a slow burner, but is now really showing top quality, and could slot into our starting lineup nicely. There are suggestions he would be perfect for Xabi Alonso’s teams.
