Chelsea may well be lumbered with club-record signing Alvaro Morata, according to Standard Sport.
It’d usually seem strange to part with such an expensive signing just a year after their arrival at the club.
Especially when you consider that Morata is only just entering his peak years, rather than being on the way down.
However, he was so incredibly poor in the second-half of last season that very few Chelsea fans have an ounce of faith left in him.
The club don’t appear to have much either. Standard Sport believe that the club were prepared to part with him this summer.
However, with AC Milan refusing to meet out £58M asking price, and Gonzalo Higuain now potentially moving to the San Siro, Morata could be stuck here.
As noted in the report, AC Milan’s new general manager Leonardo has seemingly ruled out signing either Higuain or Morata, so who knows what’s going to happen.
With the clock ticking down towards the deadline, though, it’s becoming increasingly unlikely that Morata will leave.
