Transfers: SARRI vs MARINA, striker signing depends on victor of behind the scenes duel

Gonzalo Higuain

Today there has been confirmation from the Telegraph that Chelsea are in talks with Gonzalo Higuain over joining us this January.

We’ll forgive you if you’ve grown tired of reading about this rumour. Believe us, we have too. However, Higuain is our most plausible striker target, and we bloody want us to sign one before the end of the month.

The Telegraph believe that it may well happen, but there are issues. Juventus would rather sell Higuain in a permanent deal than send him out on-loan once again. Their valuation is £30M, which is too high for a 31-year-old.

Marina Granovskaia is unlikely to give the go-ahead to such a deal, even if Maurizio Sarri is desperate to see him sign. The only way that Higuain arrives is that all parties are able to strike a loan deal this month.

What is noted in the report is that Milan are unlikely to want to sign Higuain permanently, with the player himself having no interest in staying. If they both want to cut this relationship short, we ought to make it happen for him – AND FAST!
