Chelsea are set to lock-horns with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the battle to sign Gremio youngster Arthur, according to Mundo Deportivo (via Sportwitness).
This is a unique situation. As shown below, Arthur was pictured with a Barcelona shirt on, following plenty of speculation that the Catalan giants were interested in securing his signature. However, Arthur later clarified that the shirt was merely a gift and there was no agreement in place.
Arthur: “They gave me a Barcelona shirt in the middle of the meal, who doesn’t want a Barcelona shirt? They made the first contact to my agent; I have nothing to hide from Gremio” pic.twitter.com/03d2tK0n3f

Mundo Deportivo’s report claims that there has, in fact, been NO formal offers for the Brazilian, which could allow Premier League champions and Chelsea to pounce.
It is claimed that both Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in signing the 21-year-old, but Chelsea, alongside Inter Milan, have entered the race to sign him.
Mundo Deportivo believe that Gremio will demand an eye-watering €50M in exchange for their prize asset. Chelsea parted with big-money to sign Oscar in the summer of 2012, but it remains to be seen if they’d be willing to go even higher to sign Arthur.
