When Alvaro Morata missed an absolute sitter against MOL Vidi last night, the camera, cruelly, cut to Chelsea striker counterpart Olivier Giroud.
Giroud has displaced Morata in Maurizio Sarri’s starting side in recent weeks, but Morata was granted a chance to impress in our Europa League group game against the champions of Hungary.
Though he did eventually find the back of the net, it wasn’t before Morata missed a 1-on-1 with the MOL Vidi goalkeeper. It was a sitter, for any striker, let alone one who possesses the quality that Morata has displayed when at his best.
We all had the same reaction. How on Earth did he miss? Giroud had the same, as the camera crew at the game ensured we knew about. The camera cut to the Frenchman, whose face said it all…
What a chance for Alvaro Morata…
